Frequently asked questions

For inventors, and for attorneys who represent them.

What is Invenit?

Invenit is being built as an AI research tool for inventors. It will search patent databases, read what it finds, and compare it with an invention. It will not write or file patents.

Is Invenit open yet?

Not yet. Right now this website only lets you join a waiting list, and nothing can be bought here. We will email you before accounts open.

Why should I be careful about telling people about my invention?

In the UK, making your invention public before filing can stop you from getting a patent. A registered patent attorney can tell you what that means for your invention.

Should I put my invention details in the waitlist form?

No. The waitlist does not need them, and we will not ask. The optional box on the form is for describing the kind of work you do, not the invention itself.

Does joining the waitlist cost anything or commit me to anything?

No. Joining is free and does not commit you to anything. It does not reserve a price or a place. You must be 18 or over to join.

What kinds of inventions does Invenit work on?

Invenit searches patents from every technical field, so it can search for any invention: how something works or how it is made. It was built first for mechanical devices and consumer products. Whether software can be patented in the UK depends on the invention, and a registered patent attorney can tell you. Invenit does not search registered designs, which protect how a product looks, or trade marks, which protect brand names and logos. It also searches patents only, not products, websites or articles, which is one reason a search that finds nothing is not proof.

Will an attorney review the research Invenit produces?

No attorney reviews Invenit's results. Research outputs need review by a registered attorney before filing, and your research exports as one package you can take to an attorney.

I am a patent attorney or solicitor. What happens if I join?

Attorneys who join will be invited to set up a listing in the Invenit directory when it opens. Joining does not create a listing, and any directory arrangement will be on separate terms agreed at the time.

What details do you ask attorneys for?

Your name, work email and firm. Your registration number and the areas you work in are optional.

What do you do with my details?

We use them to email you about Invenit's launch, and to understand how people plan to use Invenit. We never sell them and we do not use advertising trackers. They are stored in the EU (Ireland).

How do I leave the waitlist?

Use the unsubscribe link in any email from us, or email support@getinvenit.com. You can leave at any time.
