Invenit Privacy Policy
Version 1.0 (waitlist). Effective 11 October 2026.
Invenit is not open yet. Right now this website only lets you join a waiting list. This policy covers that, and nothing else. We will replace it with a full policy before accounts open, and email you before that happens.
The short version
- We only collect what you put in the waitlist form, plus anonymous visit counts.
- We use it for one thing: to email you about Invenit's launch, and to understand how people plan to use Invenit.
- We never sell it, and we do not use advertising trackers.
- Unsubscribe any time with the link in any email, or by emailing support@getinvenit.com.
- It is stored in the EU (Ireland).
1. Who we are
Invenit is run by Sreejith Sivankutty, trading as Invenit, a sole trader in the United Kingdom. Contact address: Innovation Labs, University of Essex, Colchester CO4 3SQ. Email: support@getinvenit.com.
We are the controller of your data: we decide how and why it is used.
We plan to register a company, Invenit Tech Ltd, to run Invenit. When we do, the company will take over the waitlist and its responsibilities under this policy. We will update this policy and tell you by email. Nothing else about how your data is used will change.
2. What we collect
If you join as an inventor: your email address, and your name if you give it.
If you join as a patent attorney or solicitor: your name, work email, firm, and, if you give them, your registration number and the areas you work in.
If you choose to tell us how you would use Invenit (an optional box on the form, for both groups): what you write there.
When you visit the website: anonymous visit counts (pages viewed, country, browser type). This does not use cookies and does not identify you.
Please do not send us details of your invention. The waitlist does not need them, and we will not ask.
3. What we use it for, and our legal basis
| What we do | Information | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Email you when Invenit opens, and with occasional updates before launch (no more than once a month) | Waitlist details | Your consent, given when you join |
| Invite attorneys to set up a directory listing at launch | Attorney waitlist details | Your consent, given when you join |
| Understand who Invenit is for and plan the launch | What you tell us about how you would use Invenit | Your consent, given when you join |
| Count visits to improve the website | Anonymous visit counts | Legitimate interests (understanding how the site is used) |
| Keep the website secure and stop spam sign-ups | Technical information such as IP address | Legitimate interests (keeping the site safe) |
You can withdraw consent at any time. We then stop emailing you and delete your details.
We do not use your information for anything else, and we do not make automated decisions about you.
4. Who sees it
We use a few services to run the website and the waitlist. Each one works on our instructions and must protect your data.
| Service | What it does | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Convex | Stores the waitlist | EU (Ireland) |
| Resend | Sends our emails, with open and click tracking switched off | EU (Ireland) |
| Vercel | Hosts the website and counts visits without cookies | United States and global network |
Vercel is based in the United States. Transfers to it are protected by the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, or by the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
We do not sell your information or share it for advertising. We would only share it if the law required us to.
5. How long we keep it
| Information | How long |
|---|---|
| Waitlist details | Until you unsubscribe, or 12 months after Invenit opens, whichever comes first. If you create an account at launch, the full privacy policy then applies |
| Anonymous visit counts | Do not identify you |
| Security records | 90 days |
6. Your rights
You can ask us to:
- show you the information we hold about you, and give you a copy;
- correct it;
- delete it;
- stop using it, or restrict how we use it;
- give it to you in a format you can move elsewhere.
Email support@getinvenit.com. We reply within one month, free of charge.
7. Cookies
This website does not set advertising or tracking cookies. Visit counts are taken without cookies.
8. Children
The waitlist is for people aged 18 and over.
9. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, email support@getinvenit.com with "Complaint" in the subject line. We will acknowledge it within 30 days and tell you the outcome without undue delay.
You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator, at any time: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, telephone 0303 123 1113.
10. Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. Before accounts open, we will email everyone on the waitlist with the new, full policy.
